An interesting week ahead

Yesterday I had the honour of meeting the new child that will be coming into my class and my first impression is he is as challenging as the reputation that precedes him. He refused to even come into my class and proceeded to run down the corridor, only to be stopped by the caretaker. Next week is going to be interesting.

Did some scrapping this evening. Completed my first team challenge which was very convenient as it was based on a school theme. I have just started to make a 8.5 x 11 album about the 3 schools Ive taught in so far. I'm not going to upload it here as Im not sure if Im allowed to as there are pictures of children in it.

Off to watch the results of dancing on ice.

Teaching day

Spent the whole day teaching for the first time in weeks. I've had a student teaching last term and this week have been on courses and had PPA time. And now tomorrow I have been volunteered to attend a dance course. So tomorrow won't be in class either.

Heard about what is happening with the new child today. He will be joining us from next Wednesday but only for maths. He is being re-integrated into school slowly which means he must be extremelly challenging. It is a bit of a relief for me to build up his time in school slowly until he can cope with it. Will keep you posted.

BRRRRR

Just returned from playing tennis. It was freezing and at one stage we even played in sleet. I was like a polar bear with all the layers. I'm from South Africa, where it is WARM!!!!

Nothing too exciting happening at the moment. Still enjoying watching the winter olympics and wishing I was skiing somewhere. Maybe next year. I know its cold when you ski but I love snow.

Didn't go into school today. Stayed at home to do my PPA which was great. Worked hard this morning and had some time to myself this afternoon.
I wonder if the new child is going to be at school tomorrow.

A craft week

I've had a very crafty week off from school. Monday was the rusty fairy canvas workshop, Wednesday a crop in Tonbridge, and Saturday another crop at Kym. I managed to complete another 2 layouts on Saturday which I will post on here shortly. Unfortunately it is now back to school, which means less time to do scrapbooking.

Today was the first day back to school and we had a training day. The day wasn't too bad as the guy presenting it was quite funny. It was however quite a long and cold day. Tomorrow I get to meet my new kid, who is supposed to be quite a challenge. At least my TA whould be back after almost a month of absence from school.

First Double LO

I went to the Tonbridge crop for the first time last night. Despite choosing the photos beforehand (a first for me) and printing off a scrapmap, it still took me forever to get started. I just could not decide on the colour to suit all my photos. Quite impressed with myself as I used a total of 10 photos. I really wanted to use them all. I managed to almost complete the first page last night and finished it this afternoon. I'm quite impressed with the result even though it is not quite right. I wll add some ribbon to the label (when I get some) but the slide mounts dont quite look right either. Oh well!

I will be heading back to Sevenoaks tennis club shortly to try out the evening club session. I'm quite excited about it but at the same time nervous like I normally am when meeting new people.

Rusty Fairy

Had a great day yesterday at a Rusty Fairy course and came home will a great canvas. I was so inspired that I bought some acrylic paints and a few more canvases to do some more.It was really convenient that the shop down the road was selling them cheaply. I have decided I will be giving the canvas to my gran as a present instead of making her a mini tag book. Going to make the tag book for mum instead. Hopefully I will get it started tonight and then am going to a crop in Tonbridge tomorrow.

Tennis woes

Ever since moving to Kent just over two years, I have battled to find a tennis club that suits me. The last two clubs have been attached to gyms and I found the tennis was not of a high enough standard. So after playing 1st/2nd league for most of my life I found myself down in the 5th-8th leagues. Very frustrating.

I eventually decided that I would have to travel further afield. So on Saturday I headed out to Sevenoak and after a lovely lunch at Kym's (thanks to Kym and her mum) I went to check it out. Ended up playing in the club afternoon and I think I may have found a club. I plan on going back on Thursday evening for another club evening and then next Wednesday to join the ladies for a team practice. Lets hope this might be the end to my tennis woes.

Am buying a sizzix machine from Kym. Yes I know the sizzix is quite old and been out a while but you have to start somewhere. Just gone and spent some more money of dies. So half term is going to be a scrappy one.

New kid

Got the great (not) news today that I will be getting a new child in my class after the half term holidays. That in itself is not a bad thing, except this child has been excluded from his previous school and has been known to swear and hit other children. So there goes my peaceful well behaved class. I knew it was too good to last.

At least tomorrow is the last day of term and I am looking forward to the weeks break. Lots of scrapping planned.

Illness

Lots of illness going around at school at the moment. Luckily I've been ok. I have been without a TA for almost 4 weeks. Saw her yesterday and she looked terrible. Hopefully after half term things will return to normal. Problem is so many parents send their children into school and then the germs just spread.

Trying to get back into an exercise routine. Went for another run today (which of course involved quite a bit of walking) but am getting better. Now to just keep up with it.

Relaxing weekend

Had quite a relaxing weekend. Nothing too exciting but am feeling quite relaxed. Yesterday went into Maidstone and decided to buy a PSP. More for Fran to use on the train than me, but both of have spent most of the weekend playing on it. Guess what he is doing now...........

I also got active and went out for a run earlier today. My body has been complaing ever since. But I am quite impressed with myself as I managed to run/walk 2 miles. Imbetween all this I also did a LO today. This one was hard going as it took me forever to do, but used some prima flowers for the first time.

Long and tiring week

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. It has been a long week at school. The kids are really playing up and so many teachers are off school ill. My kids have got into more trouble this week than the whole year put together.

Tennis is also frustrating me at the moment. I really need to change clubs as all the decent players have left current club and am not finding it much of a challenge. I do have a club in mind, it will involve more travelling but hopefully it will work out.

Looking forward to the weekend. Nothing excited planned. Do need to try and find the battery charger for my camera so I can take a picture of my latest LO.
