Been a bit of a week

Those of you that know me, know that it has been a bit of a week at school. To cut an extremelly long story short, our school has been in the media (including the national newspapers) about racial tension in the school. A few loud mouthed parents have been spreading the rumours and have been only too happy to speak to the press. We have been in The Times, Independent, Daily Mail, Telegraph and Sunday Express. Must be a record!!!

The LO is one I did for our team challenge last week. The piccies are down at the river on my brothers farm. I got really wet after slipping and falling in.

Went to the craft show at Alexandra Palance yesterday. Didn't buy that much just a few things but it was a good day out.

Tennis and sore muscles

A layout I did on the weekend of Tom. It was a challenge on UKS. I had to use a 'norty' photo, ribbon and a different size. This is 8x8 for the cats album.

Am sitting here this morning with lots of achy muscles. I'm afraid to say I've been abusing my body big time this weekend. It started with skiing on Friday night. I went all the way to the top of the slope and am quite proud of myself!!! I only fell getting off the lift.

The on Saturday attacked the garden with the lawnmower and weedeater....which meant by the time yesterdays tennis came I have quite sore arm and shoulder muscles.

I really enjoyed tennis yesterday. OK maybe not the singles as I got soundly beaten by an up and coming 14 year old. Lost the doubles too but it was a great match. All 4 of us played well and it was close.

Nothing else much happening. Another week of school awaitens me!!

Another week

Another week bites the dust and it's been a fairly good one.
I'm getting back into the school routine slowly but am still coming home quite shattered. The cats are also getting used to their new stay inside in the evening routine and sometimes even let me sleep until 6am.

The trophy is the trophy I won last year at the club tennis championships. I took it back to the club today and am one match away from bringing it home again. I had quite a tough match today and it was not pretty tennis due to strong winds, but I managed to frustrate one of the youngsters and win. The doubles was more straightforward. Next week is going to be hard though in both the singles and the doubles.

I went skiing with school on Friday night. There is a ski slope just a few miles away from here so thought I would tag along. Joined the beginner group just to find my feet again but was a bit bored so will join the intermediate group next week.

Enjoyed watching SA beat England at rugby on Fri night (sorry to my English friends) and am now watching the T20 cricket match.

Thats about it for this week. Catch up again soon.

Back to school and 'OW'

I've survived the first week back to school and apart from being very tired and having a bit of a run in with a ruler (read further down) I've had a good week. My class is much better than last year and there is not one child monopolising my time which is lovely. They are slightly weaker academically though so will need to get used to that. I'm slowly getting back into the routine of things.

About the incident with the ruler and the 'OW'

Sorry about the picture, its not that pretty!!!

How did it happen you ask. I was in my classroom on Thursday morning during assembly time doing some work on the laptop when I bent down (can't remember why) as I was standing up a metre stick toppled over from between the desk and filing cabinet and connected with my eye. No damage to the actual eye (A and E confirmed this) but the eyelid took the brunt and has been happier. It is still sore but is already looking better than the picture (taken Fri morning almost a day after it happened)

Nothing major planned for the weekend. Today is a day of chilling and getting things sorted and tomorrow have a tennis match at the club. It is the beginning of the club tournament which Im looking forward to.

New School Year........

I know it's ages since I last updated this blog. Life got in the way but thats not excuse. It's back to school tomorrow with a new (hopefully less demanding) class so am going to make an effort to update this blog at least once a week. Thinking Sunday night would be a good time!!!

So what has happened since May.

My last entry was titled teeth and even though the tooth concerned has now been removed my teeth are still bugging me. Have now found a new NHS dentist who I'll be seeing in two weeks time.

I've had a good holiday. Mom came out for two weeks right at the beginning and we went on a few adventures....sorted out my classroom, stroked the cats, saw the flowers at Chartwell. The picture is of me on the train on the Southend-on-Sea train on the pier. After mom headed back to SA I went to Suffolk and played in a tennis tourny. The tennis didn't go brilliantly but the tournament was played on a cricket outfield turned into 16 grass tennis courts which was quite fun. Then I went up to Norfolk which I really enjoyed. The back home for two weeks of lousy rainy weather and another tournament in which I played very well.

That is about all the news.

Oh yes, I moved into a nice little house and Fran moved to London, so its just me and two very clingy cats here.
