New Year Skiing in Les Orres
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
Have just returned from a fantastic week skiing in Les Orres in France. Thanks Donovan for organizing the week and to everyone for making it so great.
Left Maidstone on Saturday 27th December on a long coach trip through France. Thanks to a sleeping tablet and two seats to myself I actually slept quite well (very unusual for me) Arrived in Les Orres after some very windy and steep roads (puts Long Tom to shame for those South Africans reading this) mid morning on Sunday. Checked in, got our ski gear, had lunch and headed to the slopes. A bit of a comedy of errors, as my bindings were not fitted properly, the button lift looked a bit too scary so too the bus to the village. Then needed to find the easiest slope (5 years is a long time) and eventually headed under the bridge down the slope. Managed to avoid the red slopes and got to the bottom in one piece. Decided to call it a day though.

The rest of the week is a bit of the blur. Had lessons, learnt some better technique, battled up and down the hill and onto the bus in ski boots, ate like a queen, discovered new muscles daily, etc etc etc. The French really went out to accommodate us despite the communication barrier. Enjoyed bowlingo (mini bowling) despite the hike up the hill and the ball not going where I wanted to. New Year was very French, lovely food and French singing. And before I knew it, it was time for the return coach trip which seemed longer due to the cold I had picked up.
Me in action at the bowling. Thanks TC for the piccie.
The road down to the UCPA, had to climb it everyday in ski boots.
Desert on New Years Eve.
Returned home with a horrid cold and have been off school for two days. Hopeing to return tomorrow HELP.
